Easter Madness!

Matthew enjoyed his visit with his little cousin immensely...and also allowed him to play with his beloved Transformers. We were so proud of his patience with Zander and his willingness to share. We hope that Mattie can convince Zander to love the Transformers as much as he does someday!

On another front, Matt's home school district has agreed to let him remain at his special needs school, for which we are grateful and tremendously happy about.

And officially, I will be graduating from College of DuPage with an Associates in Applied Sciences, Administrative Assistant degree in May. I have already obtained my Word Specialist Certificate this past January...only 6 more weeks to go!

Update for 2010

so, well...since I haven't posted in over 6 months, here's the update. I went back to school in the fall, again. I will actually finish my degree this spring, and will be moving on to a different school and a completely different degree. I have decided to pursue my teaching degree. With a speciality in special needs children.
Matt is well and doing good in school, making nearly all A's for the semester.
I have been battling my own health concerns and conditions, along with worrying about my family. However, we are hoping to see things improve soon.
As I spend much of my time on Facebook or doing homework, I will not be updating very much....so if you are reading this, please come find me on Facebook! :)

End of Summer

Well, the end of Summer is fast approaching, and I am trying to figure out whether to actually return to school or not..........Matt returns in 2 weeks time, and I am still trying to figure out what to do. He has spent his summer at camp and playing on his computer. We have also done some tutoring, which he thoroughly enjoyed..and which will continue during the year. I am actually thinking of starting another blog of my favorite shows and the currently available videos for them. I don't know yet. I have not been feeling very well and it takes alot for me to do the little things anymore, but I am still trying. Our babies are doing well, as is our Cockatiel, Sunny. She took a liking to my brother this week, which is rare, as she almost never likes anyone. Well, that's all for now.

Graduation and Stuff!!

Well, the school year ended awhile ago, but Matt has graduated 8th Grade. I finished school for the semester and am taking the summer off. I spend entirely too much time on Facebook, and not enough time doing other things. However, I am still rigorously looking for work. I have also started scrapping, rather than beading, as I have no where to wear my creations, it seemed kind of silly to make stuff I won't be wearing. I am also the proud Aunt of a beautiful little boy named Zander, and Matt just adores him. Of course, Zander likes Matt for his Elmo impressions! That's all for now!

New Additions to the Family!

Sadly, on March 14th, 2009, we lost out parakeet, Buddy, who had been fighting a tumor for 2 years. At the end of April, I decided that it was time to bring some new 'babies' into the family. So, my husband and I went to PetSmart and purchased two rare parakeets, which my son named Phoenix(yellow) and Fiona(blue). We couldn't be happier with our new babies! They love to play and chirp at us!

I am still looking for a job, which has been difficult because there isn't much out there. Here's hoping! I am still working on organizing and I am almost finished with school for the semester, just another week to go!

In The News!

The last few months have been rather interesting, truth be told. I watched a great many people be laid off where I was temping. Then, on March 5th, I was laid off, too. It's a gut wrenching feeling, knowing that it's going to be pretty hard to survive without a paycheck. But, I find myself thinking that I will be alright. My husband and I have definitive plans on how to survive this, and I started by buying a new software that does dictation. I will be using this in my writing. Until I get put on another assignment, I am focusing on reorganizing my home office, my home, in general, and starting back doing something I love, which is writing. I still love Sci Fi, changed what kind of crafting I do, but I still love my Sci Fi. I am also still in school, taking a total of 4 classes this semester. I am currently doing 3 of those right now. Very hectic, but I find it to be a challenge. I won't be bored, at least, not completely. I have also discovered the joy of Facebook. And the joy of being a new Aunt to a little boy named Zander! :) Well, now, that having been said, back to organizing the house for me!

Hello! Happy New Year!! I am trying not to think of all the bad things that are going on right now. I am trying to stay focused on the good things. I start my 2nd semester of college in just 2 weeks. I will be taking 4 courses over a space of 16 weeks. Grueling! But, I am going to do it. Fortunately, there is an up side to my taking this much coursework at once. I will achieve my degree by Spring of 2010, which has been in the making for 18 years, but I am going to finish!!! It also has inspired my son to go to college in 4 years when he is finished with high school. It seems like just yesterday when I was graduating! Oy, how time flies!
I have also been getting in touch with old high school friends, and I have to say, I like Facebook, so my thanks to my friend, Nsenga for mentioning it to me. Well, since I have the day off today, I am going to be working on cleaning out our very floodable basement. I have too much stuff! Enjoy your New Year!

Yeah! Clark is back. And we also have special guest star Sam Jones III, Pete Ross!!! Pete will gain superpowers for this episode similiar to Mr. Fantastic! Sounds fascinating. I have spent the last few days catching up on some of my Superman history by watching episodes of Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman. I believe I do prefer Smallville. Sorry Dean, but you can't hold a candle to Tom Welling. He's the far better Clark Kent. And Michael Rosenbaum is the better Lex Luthor. Just my humble opinion. Check out the following link. Sorry for the delay everyone. But, I have been rather addicted to some videos on the Net of the old Pretender series with Michael T. Weiss. Yummy! ;) I have spent the last month watching ALL 4 seasons on FanPop.com. Most of what's on TV right now is very disappointing. I am looking forward to seeing the newest episode of Stargate Atlantis. I have not been that impressed by the new season, but I am glad that it's still on. I am waiting with baited breath to see what happens on Smallville and Supernatural, and I have started following Ghost Whisperer again now that SG-1 has said goodbye. I have also been busy writing again, although I haven't published all that much recently, I am pleased to say that 2 of my newer pieces are literally neck and neck for the amount of page views that they are getting! Yeah, me:) Who would ever have thought that Matt would be such an inspiration? He loves that idea. He likes to read the articles that I write about him. They hold his interest, more so than half of the reading homework he brings home. Hmmm......time to give some of them to his teacher so that he can get that credit for reading 20 minutes a day!
Well, happy New Year everyone. I don't have any resolutions yet, except to get more organized, lose 10 or 20 lbs and to find more time to bead, write, and just enjoy myself.

Beads, Baubles and Jewels; Plus Katie Hacker

While I have not completed very many projects lately in the world of beading, I have been doing some research. I found that one of my favorite ladies from the show Beads, Baubles and Jewels has her own blog, plus a new book out on beading. Her name is Katie Hacker, and she's awesome! There are also episode clips from the show available at www.beadalon.com, which is TOTALLY awesome, too. Everyone needs to go and check this out. I own several of her books, too. I find that she's easy to understand and very easy to follow along with. Sometimes, the books that I buy are just not very helpful, but she keeps her stuff simple. And of course, her designs are great too!

My New Store!

I have started up a new venture, in an attempt to do something. I have a new store on Zlio.com that focuses on the unique gifts, as well as some of things that I love. I also have a portion of the store devoted to Autism. Of course, there's Harry Potter, Stargate and Star Trek for the Sci Fi lover. Please come and visit! I am still writing some, but work is taking up a lot of my time, too, so I have not had much to bead. Otherwise, everything is still status quo.
We did have a nasty run in with appendicitis a few weeks ago, which is why I haven't been posting much. My hubbie, not me. But, it was bad either way.
We have also scored another one for the team, as far as Matt's Autism. I have told the district that I expect them to place him in a better program for his High School years. I am not completely pleased with the program he's in now. He's doing well, but I want so much more for him. He's making great strides, and I don't want the school's curriculum to hold him back.
Well, that's all for now. Gotta go finish cleaning.

New Leaps in Autism!

Well, now it might seem like the whole world thinks that special needs children are NOT intelligent. I am here to tell you that they'd be wrong. I spoke to Matt's teacher today, and he is no longer on a modified schoolwork system. He right now at this moment doing unmodified math, science, and reading! Score 100 for the Team! :) He is actually doing his homework without a fight! We are arguing with Atlantean generals as we do the Math, but who are we kidding? I need to know how many soldiers it takes to fill a battlefield, right? Or is it how many calories are in a Peach, Banana and a Pear!:) I had forgotten how much fun it can be to be a Nerd :) Sorry, a Scholar! Well, I am off to figure out what kind of Pyramid he wants to live in. Don't ask!

He Won! Go Terry!

This is a little late, but WAY TO GO TERRY FATOR!! It was totally awesome. He did a song with Kermit. So sweet!!! And he WON. Which is what we were hoping for. On the very positive side....he inspired Matt to try his hand at Ventriloqism. It was so cute. He wanted to know if Terry could train him! :) Since Matt is so into doing his own impressions, it was great!!! I am still watching the clips of Terry and Kermit singing together, it was sooooo awesome. I can't wait to see if he ends up in Chicago. I will totally be buying tickets!
Everything else is going well enough. We lost power here last week for 2 days, but luckily we have a generator. So, it wasn't too bad. Matt bore the incident surprisingly well.
We are thankful for a long weekend after 6 weeks of working, but I am going to be working on Monday, albeit from home, but I am still working. I don't mind. It's a great company to work for. And the people are nice.
I even had time recently to work on some earrings. They turned out really cute. I used some of my swarovski crystals that I had laying around for like 3 months.
In either case, I am off to enjoy our rather moderate Chicago weather. More later!

I just have to say: WAY TO GO TERRY! I love this guy. I have been watching faithfully to be sure he' s going thru to the next round. I am soooo excited for him. He's just the best. I really hope he makes it to the top! Please everyone, watch the video clips below. You'll be floored.

Well, he did it again!!! Terry Fator made the Top Ten of America's Got Talent! Wonderful! Check out the video below. I was floored(Again).
Work is progressing normally. I am enjoying keeping busy and trying to learn my new position. I am still writing at night and trying to finish another article. It is SOOOOO hot here in Chicago that I am grateful to be in a chilly office. It hit 100 today. YUK! Thankfully, our basement is cool and comfortable. I am unable to do much beading, but I am hoping to spend some time over the weekend, as it's due to be Hot again and I plan to hide in the basement again. I have a new Bead Style magazine to peruse and try some things out. Now, I must go as we are waiting with bated breath to see what happened with the Bridge Collapse in Minneapolis. We have family out there, so please keep everyone in your prayers!

America's Got Talent!!! Yep, In the form of Terry Fator

People if you haven't watched AGT, then you missed a great act. His name is Terry Fator and he's called the Human Jukebox. He's AWESOME! I have posted below two of his video clips from AGT, courtesy of YouTube. Check this guy out. He's funny and capable. I have never seen someone with both talents before, at least not this good. This last week, he did Kermit the Frog(with the turtle impersonating the frog:) ) and he was Louis Armstrong. What a wonderful combination!!!
Seeing this guy gives me some teeny tiny hope that someday Matt could be that good. Given the level of his Autism and what he can actually do, I don't think it's really that far fetched.
Check him out below, you won't believe your ears. I know that David Hasselhoff didn't, LOL.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

Ok, I won't tell you what happened in this AWESOME final book written by the brilliant J.K. Rowling, but I will tell you that I loved it. I have been spending time on MyLot.com, debating this topic and trying NOT to spoil it too much. But, all I will say is that Snape is NOT who and what we thought he was:) And Harry is fine. Really. But, that said, we also watched Order of the Phoenix, too. Very intriguing. I must say though, that like a lot of people, I was disappointed by what they left out. Altogether, it was alright. I also finished up my article on Harry Potter and it's affects on children with Autism, or the lack thereof. Associated Content has accepted my article and it will be available in the next couple of days for reading. This will be my 3rd article on Autism. Of which I am very proud. I am also exploring some very interesting money makers that I found thru a wonderful blog by a fellow writer called PaidOpps, right here on Blogspot.com. Fabulous stuff! Hence, my debates on www.mylot.com Everyone should check that site out. It's great! and an easy money maker, too. Anyways, while on that site, I found a discussion centered around Autism, where a mother and son were asked to leave an Applebee's because of the disruptions that the little boy was causing. Unbelievable! And heart renching. Horrible. I know if someone did that to my son, I would NEVER go to that restaurant again. Ever. If anyone has experienced that, please let me know. People can be so ignorant, that it just makes me FURIOUS!!! In any case, I wish the mom and her little boy all the best. We need to stick together when these things happen, no one should have to go thru this alone.

Well folks, the unthinkable has finally happened. I have again procurred a full time, out side the house position. Sigh. Not what I really wanted to do, but then, do I have a choice. This means, unfortunately, the my postings will grow shorter and further apart, although I am trying to avoid that. On the bright side, all of my submitted articles are being published, so I am going to continue doing that as well, only at night. Sadly, my beading has stopped altogether, but at least I can still take comfort in the knowledge that Doctor Who is new tonight. Perhaps, I just need some really good Time Management skills. Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? :D

More later. This is technically my last day, besides the weekend to do something around the house as I start this new job on Monday. So, wish me luck and later!

I also have an interview for a regular full time job in under 2 hours, so cross your fingers! I am very nervous and don't know what to make of all of this. I have spent the last 2 days on a freelance writing and proofreading project for a wonderful lady, who incidentally, is the same one who introduced me to Associated Content. For which I am completely grateful. We hope to have a long standing business relationship.

Nothing New, As Always:)

Hello again. Well, we did it. We have acquired DSL! Yeah. This means I will be uploading more pictures to my blog and to my other groups as well. I am totally excited. Everything is so much better now.
I have still not done any new beading projects, but I have now submitted 3 more poems and wait with baited breath to see if they are accepted.
I finally finished an article on the uses of Music Therapy in Children with Autism. Matt just loves music, so I try to tell everyone I know that has a child with Autism that they should have them listeningto music if at all possible. It does work wonders. And besides, Matt doesn't like Rap, thank God, but at least he has awesome taste. Thanks to my Dad, who has exposed him to some awesome music. Thanks Dad! I have never liked that kind of music much, which the rare, very rare exception. But the rap of today is a far cry from the rap of the 80's and early 90's when I was a teenager. If the article is accepted, I hope that everyone will read it and tell people they know.
We also went and saw Transformers: The Movie, yesterday. It was....passable. Matt loved it of course. I'll admit that the effects were very good, but the plot? Not so much. Although, I have to say that Optimus Prime was my favorite Transformer. Megatron always sucks, and everything moved way to fast to get a good sense of what was going on. But otherwise, yes, it was passably good.
Next weekend we plan to see Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and of course, right after, I intend to go by my copy of the newest book: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. I can't wait. I am very excited.

I will be writing articles about Autism, Beading and eventually, will touch on SciFi. But, I am going to try and touch on various topics that I feel comfortable with, too. Being that Autism is foremost in my mind, I am focusing on that one, primarily, but I intend to do some on Beading, lousy Stepchildren, unethical co-workers and anything else I think would help people. I love to write as much as I love to bead, but as the writing pays, and right now, the beading doesn't, I have to go with the writing.
I tried to sell some of my Autism stuff on Ebay and got nothing. 40 people looked at each one, but no one bought anything. sigh. I will eventually repost it though, but not right now.

It's beautiful here in Chicago, but I must retreat into my bed, as I am fatigued once more today. I have to get some sleep as all that writing I did yesterday just wore me out and I am not done yet. Obviously.

Another Hot One!

Hello again everyone!
It's another Hot one here in Chicago. No beading as yet today. Too busy hiding in the basement where it's cool. I am anxiously awaiting the season premiere tonight of Doctor Who on SciFi. So exciting. 2.5 hours! I have been anxiously awaiting this now that SG-1 is over. Sigh. Not a happy camper about that one. And now of course, we are waiting to go see HP 5 and Transformers. It's a toss up really, but since Matt likes both, all we can do is hope for the best. I have been reading spoilers for Smallville and Supernatural. Looks like some more interesting things are happening. Apparently, Lana Lang may not be dead after all. Kristen Kruek is apparently in contract talks. Hence, my theory of, they made it look like she was dead and she may not be:) he he. I can't wait to see who they find to play Clark's Kryptonian cousin. Let's see, now if they would only bring in Bruce Wayne and Princess Diana, we'd be good. I would love to see Wonder Woman and Batman make an appearance, but then wouldn't we all? Then the Legendary Justice League would be complete. Let's see: Aquaman, Green Arrow, The Flash, The Martian Manhunter and Clark....already there. We're missing 2..sigh. Oh well. Maybe by season 8.

New Ideas

I have been delving into some interesting opportunities. I have a huge interest in working from home, but I am having no luck trying to find programs that don't require a ridiculous fee to become involved. I am sick to death of searching for legitimate ideas. I have tried freelance writing, photography and a couple of other ideas, but I am fast losing hope that I won't be scammed if I buy even one program. So, if anyone knows of something valid, please tell me. I need to be able to work from home, too, because of Matt, but the one hope I have, needs references I don't have. Sigh. I am going to say it plainly. The company I used to work for treated me horribly and I walked away, with no notice. This does not help my job hunt. I am finding it difficult to get someone new to hire me. Anyone have any ideas on how to get around that particular problem?
Well, enough complaining. I think I will work on some new projects tomorrow, after I put the laundry away:( That should make me feel better.

More Projects that I finished

This another project that I finished some time ago. I have one in each of my custom mixes: Lilac, Blue Ice and this one, Pink Rose. Working with Swarovski crystals and seed beads is a lot of fun, so I take great pride in this design. I have used several other slider designs with my mixes, with great results. Simple, yet elegant.

I just love my mixes!:)

It's now very HOT again here in Chicago and I have not been working much on my beading. But, as I mentioned, I did do a barette project using seed beads. Very Pretty.

I just love it. I thought it turned out rather well.

On the other side of things, I took some new pictures of my other baby!:) She looks very happy.

Well, that's all for today. I am very tired after the storms last night. I didn't get much sleep. So, I am off to rest awhile and then watch a movie, The DaVinci Code. Looks interesting:)

Summer is Here!

Hi again everyone!
Well, aside from being verrrrry tired and frustrated with my job search....the summer is going ok. Matt has been enjoying his time at NEDSRA camp. Not one incident!!! Not one! Ok, except for the fact that he's grounded right now:( But, that's a whole other story. He's enjoying his days at camp, where he swims, does crafts, plays games and goes for walks, field trips, etc. He just loves it. He actually helps out the other campers, which has endeared him to the counselors:). I believe he might be a counselor in training!:)
The heat wave finally left Chicago yesterday and today is comfortable. I have been too busy to bead much and am struggling to find time to do anything but worry about job hunting. There is not a lot of choices even though I have alot of skills. Anyways, I have been exploring the freelancing option again and am trying to do some mystery shopping on the side. I have decided that I will be looking for part time work and maybe taking in some babysitting on the side, as that's what I need most, a babysitter, even though he's not a baby anymore. And given that he likes to help out with the younger kids that we know, maybe there's a plus side to all of this!:) I have a built in helper!
Matt actually finished the school year out very well. 4 A's and 2 B+'s! Yeah. He also got an award for Most Improved Behavior! We are very proud of him. We treated him to lunch at Ruby Tuesday's, yum!
In any case, I made off with tons of stuff from Joanne Fabrics during their bead sale last week. I am trying out some simple projects using barettes, sticky tape and seed beads. It came out rather well. I even invested in a wire "ThingamaJig" to make wire shapes. I haven't done any real projects with it yet. I am hoping that things will settle down soon and I can get my mind back on my beading. I have tried using a Knitting Machine, too, but that is not working out so well. I have tried Cross Stitch and Crochetting, but not so good at that. So, I am going to stick to what I know. Beading!
Also, for the Scifi buffs....Stargate SG-1 is OVER!!! But, Atlantis will be back in September, along with Smallville, YEAH!! And Supergirl is coming people! I can't wait. Doctor Who will be back on SciFi next Friday night for it's new season, so I am eagerly awaiting that, too.
Well, I am off to watch my birds fight over my hubbie. It's soooo funny to watch a little twit parakeet and a big Cockateil fighting over him. You'd have to be here.:)

Nothing New, Again

Hello Campers!:)
Well, it's now official. I have been married for 2 years. What a concept! My son is baffled by the very idea that it's been 2 years since he walked me down the aisle, but given that he's at least tolerant of his stepdad, I am not complaining. Much.
On to other matters. After having to cancel our beading group meeting on the 2nd, I actually attended our other meeeting in Cary. I met yet more of our talented members. We are actually up to a whopping 42 members now! Wow. We are growing and growing. Yesterday, I was able to complete 2 different projects, one with some new beads that I bought at the meeting last night. The beads are curvy, for lack of a better word. They are really cute. The other project was to complete the sodalite bracelet and some earrings that go with the necklace I made 2 weeks ago. I have not had much time to bead since Matt has been home from school. Thank God he will be starting camp on Monday so that I can have some peace and quiet to do my beading!
Now, People pay attention. There are ONLY 2 EPISODES LEFT OF STARGATE SG-1! Then they are gone, finished, except for 2 more made for TV movies that they are supposedly making. I am totally going to miss Daniel. Totally. I just love that guy. I guess I have a thing for guys who love mythology and languages. Fortunately, but not coincidently, Matt loves those things too!:)
And of course, this morning I went Garaging! Yeah!!! I got some great bargains. I even found some stuff that my hubbie likes! Can anyone say AMERICAN CHOPPER!!!:0)
Well, that's all for now. It's SOOOOOOO Hot here, that I am hiding in the house. Will be hiding for awhile. We won't see a cool down until late next week. At least someone will get to go swimming!:)

The New Justice League!

I have made a voyage into amatuer photography today. I have a collection a Build A Bear Superheroes and my favorite doll made by my mom over 20 years ago. His name is Herbie! He has now joined the New Justice League. Although Spiderman is not normally part of the group, but today he is.

Here's the pic!

For those of you who don't know, Superman, Supergirl, Green Lantern, Batman, The Martian Manhunter, Wonder Woman, The Flash and many others are members of the Justice League. Originally, when I was growing up, it was the Superfriends....but things have changed. Now, we have Herbie managing everything! Just kidding. My son, Matt is very fond of his superheroes and of Herbie, so we decided he should join!

I even managed to finish another project today, using sodalite round beads, white seed beads and a carved rose made of sodalite and a teardrop of sodalite. Very interesting. That picture will follow later!
Gotta Go tho' have to prepare for our beading group on Saturday!

New Stuff

Hi Everyone,

Well, we had another scorcher today. I have not done any jewelry beading this week. Between the heat and the fatigue, I have only completed one major project. A beaded vase for a newly married couple.

The other side is pink to this side's blue. The couple liked it. I thought it came out really well considering this was only the second time I did this kind of project.

I have started working on some other projects using the same principle. I just bought some stencils and 2 sided tacky paper used in scrapbooking and traced the design, laid it out on the vase and added the beads. It's actually very easy. It beats trying to do it all by hand.

Here's another idea I tried, using the tape to fill the etches in the glass. I thought it turned out rather well, although it's not completed yet.

New Projects in the last week

I have been working on many new projects in the last week or so. As I mentioned previously, I have completed 6 new projects. I have been very fatigued and tired, but the heat here in Chicago is not helping any. Matthew is also doing very well. His school year will be ending next week, then he will be starting his summer camp about the middle of June. He attends camp thru our local special recreation park district. They are a wonderful organization, NEDSRA. They are able to cope and handle the various problems associated with his Autism. They even have camps specifically designed around Autism. Which is very helpful. He's been with them since 2005 and he really loves attending. For more information on this wonderful organization, please check their website www.nedsra.org

I have also taken the liberty of posting a very pretty picture of my favorite place, the Japanese Gardens. It's very serene and quiet. Absolutely wonderful for calming an Autistic Child. Matt was very quiet and respectful when we were there. He understood that need even at 8 years old. We were even able to observe a real Tea Ceremony. The colors were magnificent.

This is Matthew and Me at the Gardens. We just love those waterfalls!!! They have been my biggest inspiration in taking pictures. I am also an amateur photographer, when I take a break from Beading and watching Sci Fi.

As many of you know, last week on the Season Finale of Smallville, Lana has apparently been blown up. Supposedly by Lex. And ironically, the Phantom from the Phantom Zone has been reproduced into Bizarro Clark. OOOOH! Scary. And that the Martian Manhunter is defending Lionel's motives in trying to help Clark...suspicious. And there's Chloe's mysterious healing of Lois Lane! So, who's actually leaving the series? No Clue! But, I will be watching advidly come this Fall.

And don't get me started on what happened on Supernatural. All told, I think the death of the yellow eyed demon was way too easy. But, then, what do I know!

I am looking forward to seeing what happens on all of my favorite shows come fall. We are still waiting for the ending of SG-1 and Atlantis. I just wish they would finish out the series with Jack and Sam FINALLY admitting how they really feel and getting married. But, those pesky Ori, just aren't going to step back!

I have to say though that I will be doing lots of projects over the summer, once the TV goes into re-runs. It's so hard to concentrate when the good stuff is on!

New Mythology

Hello All! Well, I have completed 6 new projects this week alone! I have been a busy little beader. Today, I spent some time doing my second favorite hobby. Garage Saling! We made off with lots of neat stuff:) And I am not even worried.
We have been immursed in all things mythology, too. Matt is a huge fan, thanks to his Grandpa introducing him to Age of Empires. He is now a faithful addict of Age of Mythology. All things Greek, Egyptian and Atlantian. Even his teacher is impressed!
We did finally get back my test results and I have a huge vitamin defficiency. Not good. So now I am taking lots of supplements. Not sure how I am feeling yet, but today was easier than yesterday right:)
I am working on rephotographing all of my jewelry and my hubbie is going to build me a photo box so I can take really good pictures. So please be patient with me!

Bead Society Meeting Today

Well, we have had our 4th group meeting since our inception 5 months ago. We are now up to 29 members, with 5 members attending today's meeting. I was able to show off my new autism inspired home decor and got rave reviews, in my opinion. Even our shop sponsor thought the idea was great. So, I am going to continue with my idea and will be attempting to sell something related to my idea. I purchased more of the colors for this mix and purchased some new colors as well. I also picked up some very interesting twisted bugle beads. I am already working on a new design that incorporates them. I am using my handy spinner to assist, of course.
I will be taking some more pictures of my finished projects soon.
We are unhappily waiting to hear the results of my bloodwork, to determine if I will be able to return to work. Wish me luck! Now, it's off to make my dinner...then will be watching the Robin Williams comedy "Man of the Year". Hopefully, that will raise our spirits.

Finally! My new projects

I have finally, finally, uploaded some of my newest projects. My projects have focused on Autism Awareness and a new beading technique that I learned. I used Tacky Tape to attached my special "autism" mix of beads to various items. I think that they look awesome, personally.
I would like everyone's opinion, so please tell me what you think. I am going to start selling these very unique pieces and I need to know what the public thinks.

Nothing New Yet

Sorry, again! I have not been well, so I have not posted in awhile. I went for some blood work yesterday in order to determine what's wrong with me. We have a confirmed diagnosis of Fibromyalgia. yuk. I am just glad that I have my beading!
The most interesting thing happened this afternoon. I suffered a dizzy spell and my son, Matt, had to help me get up off the floor. I was then treated to dinner made by my 12 year old. I taught him how to make hot dogs in the microwave:)
I was so proud that he didn't burn down the house. Tomorrow I am going to teach him how to make hamburgers on our George Foreman grill. That should be fun. But, useful, just in case I am down for the count again.
Well, I am watching some incredible shows tonight, as well as tomorrow. Bones is absolutely awesome tonight. I can't wait for Crossing Jordan. Tomorrow is a new Smallville, and Supernatural. Friday is another awesome episode of SG-1 and Atlantis. I am so excited! I can't wait.
Well, I am off to watch the alien theories on Bones. More later. I am working on some great projects for autism awareness.

New Update

I apologize for the delay in posting but this last week has been very bad for me. First, Matt got sick, then I did. I had a major Fibro flare up on Friday and had to leave my assignment. By, Fibro, I mean Fibromyaglia. My mom and I both have the condition. Anyways, now I am also saddled with a head cold, but I am fighting it! I have not been doing much beading this week, as I have felt yucky, but I have lots of projects planned. I spent yesterday at a great store in Evanston called Dave's down to earth rock shop. They have a little museum downstairs filled with dinosaur paraphenelia and Matt just loved it. We are hatching his new dinosaur as I type! Anyways, this was our second trip back to Evanston, last weekend we went to a sculpture park in neighboring Skokie. It was very interesting. And this week, when we drove by it again, Matt was actually able to remember some of the sculpture names! Here is a nice little photo of one of the sculptures we saw. Matt was fascinated by most of them. The place is called Skokie Sculpture Park and is located on McCormick Blvd between Howard St. and Dempster. They have a walking/biking trail along side so it's very nice for families.

Today we are having some VERY nice weather, so Matt and I might be going over to the Morton Arboretum in Lisle to enjoy the sunshine. Later, I will be playing with some projects I have been wanting to do.

I also had the privilege of watching new Smallville and Supernatural episodes last night and Stargate SG1 and Atlantis on Friday. Everything was very good. I am seriously debating whether to start hating Lex again. He totally lied to Lana. The jerk. And we had the pleasure of seeing "Wonder Woman" Lynda Carter guest starring as Chloe's mother. Which was really cool.

Nothing New

I have spent today running around like a chicken without a head. Tonight is the premiere of the last 10 episodes of Stargate SG1 and I am soooo excited! Matt only had a 1/2 day of school so I ended up having to take the day off. I spent part of the day running and the other part working on some interesting new projects. I just finished my first beaded bookmark and some interchangeable necklace pieces. I think they turned out rather well. I bought a new magazine from Bead Style call Under 1 hour. It's chocked full of interesting ideas. I just had to try some of them.! Tomorrow is the 4th meeting of my beading society, so I am gearing up for that too. Busy, Busy like a little beading bee. I have also added a new picture of Matt and our now deceased parakeet Brady. They just look so cute together that I couldn't help it. She helped him to get over his fear of being around flighty animals. With the autism, and their unpredictability, birds and Matt didn't always get along. Brady's illness allowed for him to sit with her in a more subdued manner and taught him not to be afraid of them. Bless her little soul. She's now buried under the willow tree in the back yard and Matt frequently asks after her, but I know she's in a good place and misses him too. Not trying to be morbid, just reflecting. It's been 4 months and we all still miss her, even her now very nasty tempered friend Buddy:) Well, I'd better go get ready, Stargate is only an hour away and I haven't cooked dinner yet!

New Freelance Writing Gig!

Hello! Well, I have done it. I was offered an opportunity to write about what I love!!!! Beads! I am so excited to be doing this! I have also submitted a story on Autism, which focuses on my wonderful Son. I hope to begin doing this more frequently as I love to write and I enjoy telling everyone about what Matt can do. Between his vocal talents and his love of Transformers:) it should get interesting.
This weekend will be filled with beads and Easter, but otherwise, nothing more unusual than that. I don't plan on making any ham, but am making my not so famous breaded chicken. This way, I can actually get to eat some of it!

Beads! Beads! and More Beads!

I just got my latest purchase of beads! So pretty. I can't wait to work with all of the goodies that I bought. I received lots of Swarovski crystals in pinks and purple, along with other very sweet beads. With Easter only 2 days away, I will be busy, but I am looking forward to making some new bracelets to wear while I work. I finally have the chance to wear what I make, instead of saving the stuff for when I do get to go out.
Tonight is a brand new episode of Ghost Whisperer, so I am really looking forward to that. I also submitted my very first story about Matt and his autism. So, everyone keep your fingers crossed that it will be accepted.
Have to get ready for work now, so more later!

New Projects

I have completed several new projects and am very proud of them. I have ordered alot of new swarovski crystals so that I can continue working with these very cool beads. I just love them.
I have also just ordered a very cool toy. A bead spinner! I will be able to bead my little seed beads, which are so hard to see! I think this will work out very well. And the price was just right!
Well, off to bed for me. I have to continue my temp job tomorrow. And Easter is coming.

Hello Kitty Party Results

Well, after some confusion and much re-organization, my guests did show up. Not as many as I had hoped to see,but never the less, I now have hosted my first party. I still have lots of stuff left and will be hosting another party again next month. The date is still pending. Between Easter and the next beading society meeting, things are going to be hectic. I am taking this long awaited opportunity to do a far more detailed inventory of all the Kitty stuff that I have. I think I have more than I thought I did. So, next month I will have new items, too. I also made 3 new bracelets and earrings sets in the last 2 days, including a beautiful piece done in Rose crystals. I am very proud of my little design. I will be posting pictures later. I have 6 more articles to write in the next 2 days, as I fell behind with the craziness and fatigue of working outside the home again. Anyways, yesterday, my folks celebrated their 34th wedding anniversary. I sent my mom some very pretty stuff, along with my autism jewelry. And lucky her, they live where it's warm right now. Last night was a troubling situation because Matt got scared when it started to rain, so he was talking to my hubbie on the walkie talkies until way after 10pm, trying to find out what was going on outside. Floods and autism don't get along well. We didn't flood, but we did back in October, so it still scares him everytime it rains hard. It's sunny right now, but may rain again, so we have the radios charging in the event they are needed again. Well, I have Banana Nut muffins cooking in the oven, so I must go and I need to check on Sunny, she just had her morning Bath. Later! Beading Happy and writing strong!

Well, I started back to work yesterday. It was awful. Not the job, though. The buildng that I was assigned to work in had no Air conditioning and it was HOT!!!! I was completely wiped out by the time I got home. I spent an uneventful evening writing and watching reruns of Stargate SG-1. Has everyone heard that Amanda Tapping(Colonel Sam Carter) will be moving to Atlantis for the 4th season? This is awesome. I am pleased to see that Amanda will be joining that Cast. It should be fun. Smallville proved to be interesting as well. Lana lost the baby and Lex is up to his same old tricks! No surprise there! At least tonight, Bones and Crossing Jordan are new. For those of you who are fans of Lily, played by Katherine Hahn, remember to check out her new movie, The Last Mimzy. It's supposed to be great! Even my Dad wants to see it, and he typically doesn't like to go to the movies. Anyways, I have to go and finish getting ready for work. Hopefully, things will be better today, now that we have more Fans in the supervisor's office.

Another New Day

There is no work for me today, but for my freelance writing. Which I am enjoying immensely. It's really interesting doing the research to write each article. It's chilly and 50 here in Chicago, but it's Sunny. And I don't mean my Cockateil. She's upstairs lounging on her cage, staring outside. All is quiet and dinner is already cooking. We found these wonderful crockpot dishes in the frozen section that you simple add water to the gravy, add the ingredients, and let it cook for 8 to 10 hours. My hubbie loves them after a hard day of floor laying! Now Matt and I are also going the frozen route today, having chicken nuggets and cheesesticks, but that's because we don't like crockpot pork!:)
Matt is still in the middle of his ISAT's at school, but doesn't seem to be bothered by it much. I plan to spend my day writing and doing MORE laundry. If I actually get to do any beading today, I would be surprised.

And given that I am a TV addict, Heroes is not on tonight. But, there is 4 episodes of Enterprise on Sci Fi today. Along with 2 episodes of Voyage on Spike. Yeah!!! Well, now I am off from a respite from everything.

Will be thinking of more designs for my beading as I take a respite, but that's only if I can get the image of Steve Urkel in a polyester outfit out of my head!!!! Oy:(

Newest Stuff

Well, aside from having computer issues, things are good. I have completed another project. A very pretty wire-wrapped necklace using chain and porcelain beads.

The weather is Sunny and in the 40's here in Chicago. Good day for staying IN the house, because it's still chilly. I have lots of laundry to put away, anyways, and have nothing more urgent than reading a good book planned for after dinner.

On the job front, I did land my first freelance writing gig. yeah me! It doesn't pay all that good, but hey, at least it's a way to fund my beading and pay a bill or two.

I have more projects to work on this coming week, so I have alot to think about.

More Horizons to Seek

Well, the interview went well enough. I may just have something lined up! Which is a good thing. Matt is doing well. He went back to school and is in the myst of the ISAT's. Today was the wonderful world of Reading. He didn't seem too stressed out about the testing. Surprisely, it should have, but it didn't. He came home in a very good mood and spent part of the afternoon watching TV and playing his strategy game: The Age of Mythology.

We enjoyed a pretty decent dinner of Smoked Sausage and Fried Potatoe Slices. I got this tasty recipe from my very talented Mom!:)

No beading today, as I spent alot of time prepping for the interview, then collasped in bed for several hours. After cooking dinner, I enjoyed a Season 2 episode of Smallvile, then a new episode of "Bones" on Fox. It was VERY good. Now, I must spend the rest of my evening folding laundry(ugh!) and finishing up some other work.

Here we have a very funny picture of my parakeet Buddy trying to rip apart a new favorite snack: Cheetos. I need a good laugh right now:) Now, My Sunny has been a little agitated today, but she's doing a bit better now. Fortunately, she doesn't like Cheetos, she prefers Peanuts.

I have another tomorrow..so it's going to be another busy day. Plus, it's an all new Smallville(Lana and Lex get married!:( ) and an all new Supernatural. So, Busy, Busy!

New Horizons

I am getting ready for my first interview in nearly a month! Trying to remain calm, but having little luck. I have to endure about 3 hours of testing at this agency, but as I have confidence in my computer skills, I am sure I will do fine.
The weather is relatively nice, we managed to open up the house yesterday, as it was 70 degrees here! Beautiful! I didn't do any beading yesterday, as I was too busy looking for a real job. I have to work on preparing for a Hello Kitty party that I am going to have in a couple of weeks, right before Easter. I have so many plans, that it's scary.
Have to go finalize my prep for this interview. Wish me luck!

Something Finished!

It has been absolutely beautiful here today. Just gorgeous. Unfortunately, Matt was home from school with a bad headache. So, I spent part of my time, coming up with a new necklace and making several memory wire rings. They turned out pretty well.

I used some beautiful seed beads and some 3 holed spacers that are just fun. It took me awhile to complete it. I was so proud of myself. Even my hubbie was impressed. Tomorrow I plan on working on another one, but am not sure yet. The weather is so pretty that I might skip beading for a day. I am just relaxing now, watching another boring episode of Law & Order SVU. On a more Sci Fi note, Today was Star Trek Enterprise Monday on the Sci Fi Channel. Yeah. I love playing catchup watching the old episodes again. Tomorrow is Stargate SG-1 Tuesdays, but another of my favorite shows, on FX, called Dirt is on tomorrow, too..So I am going to play heads or tales:) Well, I am off to bed.

What Happened?

The day is already gone and I am just sitting here watching the Dresden Files. Creepy stuff that!
The Harry Potter get together turned into a great discussion about many different topics. Matt was able to participate for awhile, but soon his love of Mythology overcame his interest in HP. One of my visitors graciously presented him with a gift bag full of fun Potter stuff and even gave me a very pretty figurine. Thanks, Analee! It was a fun visit, with possible plans to do a local movie gathering the day Order of the Phoenix comes out.
I managed little else today with the time change, but I have been leafing through one of my beading magazines and have some ideas for some of the new beads I bought last weekend.
I finally finished my first wire wrap project, using chain and Strawberry Quartz. Very pretty.
We overcame a crisis with Matt's favorite game thanks to his grandpa and my hubbie.
I have many ideas and thoughts for tomorrow, so I will say good night. I am ready to finish watching the Dresden Files. Something about a magical hand of a thief, who's verrrrry bad.

Beads, Birds and Stuff

Well, things are a little crazy here in Chicagoland. But, the weather is turning out to be quite nice today and my son is pestering me to take him out to buy a movie he saw at the dollar store. Go figure. In addition to my son, I have two pets that also drive me nuts. Buddy, a parakeet and Sunny, a Cockateil. These were birds that belonged to a family member, so I love them dearly. But, I tell you, Buddy can play tug of war as well as a human!!! She's a feisty one for someone who has a tumor. She was diagnosed a few months ago, right before her companion died. And poor Sunny is always on the run from her! But Sunny is a relatively friendly bird and loves to cuddle with my husband. She's like another girlfriend, only she sheds! She also serves as an alarm clock when he won't get up!:) (See the picture, what did I tell you?) Right now, Buddy is singing her little lungs out looking for attention, only to be ignored by a 12 year old with a passion for all things Jetix and Toon Disney on a Saturday morning.

I have not yet worked on any beading projects today as we have many other things to do, but I spent part of yesterday rephotographing some of my stuff and organizing my project book. I will gladly give credit for that idea to my co beader and co moderator, Erin.

I must go see to Queen Buddy and Queen Sunny, otherwise I am likely to get hissed at.

I am adding one last picture of Buddy with her companion, Brady. Brady died in December and we miss her terribly. But, she was a sweet bird and such a pretty little thing.
Buddy is the blue chested one and Brady is the white one.
I have plans to make some birdie toys with some pony beads I picked up a few years ago. My very crafty mom told me that they make good toys for the birds.
So hopefully, Buddy will learn to pick on something more her own size!

Beads, Baubles and Jewels

If you love beads like I do, you need to watch this show. For those of you in the Chicagoland area, this program is on Channel 20, WYCC, every Friday at 1:30pm, CST. Check out the website for further schedule information! Also, their video segments appear on Firemountaingems.com.
I just learned how to make a chain necklace with wire wrapped bead units. So cute. And there is no clasp on this design!
Using the techniques outlined on this show, I was able to make my first "cha-cha" ring. Didn't do too well, but it's still cute!
I will have to get to working on some more designs. I have some new swarovski crystals that I bought that I want to play with. Wish me luck.
It's 60 and beautiful here outside of Chicago.
I think I am inspired to try my hand at some seed beads done up in a daisy pattern!
Now I know I need luck.

Something New that I learned

Yesterday evening, I spent some time with other Ebay Sellers. I learned a ton of new information and fully intend to try it out. I have every intention of selling my jewelry, just probably not on Ebay. But, since I have an extensive collection of Hello Kitty stuff to sell, that is what everyone will see! Rich and Nila were very nice and although it was only them and me, I felt that they definitely knew what they were doing.
I am pleased to say that I have a whole new outlook on selling on Ebay and I am getting ready to start posting. I have some major leg work ahead of me though. But, I am sure I'll manage.
Taking pictures of my stuff will be the easy part. Writing the descriptions will be interesting. Getting others to buy it, will be the hardest part. But, I am up for the challenge.
Upcoming news: I am hosting a little group at my house this weekend concerning all things Harry Potter! This group will also involve my son, who is autistic. He's so excited to be involved in this that I am sure he will be peppering my guests with many questions.
He takes no pleasure in crafts, but I will say that the boy has good taste when it comes to SciFi. Okay, maybe not. He likes the movie Species(yuk!) but other than that, we both love HP, Star Wars, Trek and Spiderman. All superheroes fall into our category of SciFi, so he loves them all.
So, keep those wands at the ready, because here we go!!!!

My name is Liz. I am a parent, a sci fi lover and a beader all wrapped up into one person. I am also the wife of a Three Stooges fan, with his own set of quirks. My son, Matt, is 12 and autistic. He's the most talented kid I know, despite his disability. He loves music, strategy games and the Power Rangers.
I am also an amateur photographer and freelance writer, trying to get my stuff out there. I love writing and taking pictures. I love working on my jewelry making while I watch old reruns of Star Trek: TNG and Voyager.
I have many different interests and recently joined a whole bunch of groups, trying to meet new and interesting people.
I would like to share my opinions and dreams with others, so please! let me know what you think.
